As Veterans’ Day approaches, many are getting ready to honor the men and women who have served our country. Many great events for everyone will be held to pay tribute to America’s finest. A memorial wall and artifacts exhibit honoring our brave soldiers will be held at Polk Outpost 27, a tribute concert with air shows and delicious dinning at Sun n’ Fun and a wonderful Celebration of Service at Fantasy of Flight.
Polk Outpost 27
Polk County’s Visitor Information Center, Polk Outpost 27 in Davenport will be paying tribute to American veterans both past and present during the Days of Honor, November 8-11 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To honor our Vietnam Veterans, on display will be a smaller replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. This replica was graciously donated by Tom Twigg and his wife Dee for those who served, fought and died in the Vietnam War. To honor the soldiers of Vietnam, visitors with family members that served are asked to bring photos of their loved ones to the exhibit to share with future visitors.
Along with the memorial wall replica, there will be many other displays to honor past and present veterans of America, including pieces of the Berlin Wall, patches from units that served in Vietnam, a Cold War Victory Medal, as well as other war memorabilia.
All festivities are free of charge. Visitors who bring non-perishable food items to be donated to local charities will be entered to win a $50 Publix Gift Card.

Sun ‘n Fun
Saturday, November 10, Sun n’ Fun will host a patriotic tribute performed by the Imperial Symphony Orchestra. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the concert, there will be spectacular aircraft fly-bys, a night glider, and outdoor dining, along with many other aviation extras. So bring your lawn chair and blankets, and enjoy amazing sights and sounds to honor America’s veterans.
There will be food and beverages, including beer and wine, available for purchase during the concert or you may bring a cooler. You can also pre-order food at sun-n-fun.org. Parking is free, and shuttles will be available to and from the parking lot.

Fantasy of Flight
The Veterans’ Day celebration doesn’t stop there!
Fantasy of Flight will also be hosting Veterans’ Day Salute: A Celebration of Service. November 10-11 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Come and enjoy a day of honoring the men and women who served our country to protect our freedom. Fun flights and festivities will be planned all weekend long; war veterans will also be on hand to share their heroic stories and experiences. The cost is included with attraction admission and for all Annual Pass holders, and free admission for those with a valid military ID.
